The "dance" of the Sifaka
is both elegant and athletic, with a bipedal stance employed for rapid
movement across clearings and along high tree branches. They are spectacular
leapers, using their long legs to propel them, superman style, from
tree to tree across wide gaps. Verreaux's Sifaka is one of the most
appealing and attractive of the lemurs of Madagascar and its future
is more secure than most since local people consider it bad luck to
harm them.
